Medium follower (and, for now at least, a Medium member) here. Reading this on the bus to work.
I just like reading people’s weeknotes. Anyone who takes the time to reflect, and write up their reflections, on their work is probably interesting enough to read, as often as not. I don’t know what this says about me then… I still haven’t got myself into the habit of weeknoting in public.
I think your approach here is really helpful Alastair. Instead of writing about how ND people are different, this actually starts to expose the assumptions and heuristics that constitute neurotypicality. Making the familiar strange.
I especially liked your point about how most of us skim through the stimuli and experiences…
Love this! I think I’m quite tuned in to the kairos sense of time but society as a whole really seems not to be. It would be interesting to talk to others more about their own experiences of time as lived, special, subjective, elastic… amid the speed of contemporary life.
Thank you. Your piece pretty much captures how I feel about all of this, but takes the scenario further into the darkness than I’d dared imagine, really.
Delaying or cancelling Brexit isn’t going to stop these forces that are operating across continents. Bolsonaro and his like are part of this picture too.
