They are as effective as they are, easy to use, should you buy one? Do they have contraindications? We analyze the advantages and disadvantages of electric massagers.

Thanks to modern electric wave massagers, you do not have to leave the house to enjoy a relaxing massage. That will never send professionals, but it is a good substitute that can be used while watching television and resting. You can find in the market all kinds of these devices: anti-cellulite, cervical, reducers, feet, for the back, shiatsu, facials, and capillaries, as well as mattresses, armchairs and electric massage seats.

Wave Massagers

Relatively cheap, and as easy to use as washing machines, it is clear that they have multiple points in their favor. But are there also reasons not to buy them and dispense with their service?

Advantages of electric massagers

Many are the benefits of massage because they relax and decontract muscles, improve skin elasticity, relieve chronic pain, help reduce anxiety and support the digestive system. Besides, they combat the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome in women and facilitate sleep. Obviously, it is worth having the chance to take one at any time. With this in mind, there are numerous reasons to buy an electric massager to have at home.

They avoid trips to the physiotherapy center, which saves so little time in modern society.

There is no need to have another person, such as a couple, who knows how to apply massage. You can supply them yourself.

They provide a massage of a certain quality, although obviously, they do not reach the level of a masseuse.

They can be used while doing any other activity, such as listening to music. They weigh little and do not take up too much space (another precious commodity nowadays), so they can be transported easily, in case you have to travel.

Disadvantages of electric massagers

On the other hand, there are also some drawbacks to consider before spending money. Some of the best models have a prohibitive price. With what they cost you can go several times to the massage center.

As mentioned above, it will never be the same as the service of a qualified expert. Not always a massage is good when it comes to relieving pain. It is improved in those cases in which it comes from muscle tension, but if the cause is a broken bone, a laceration or a clot, it could worsen the situation. In all cases it is always advisable to consult a doctor first. You should also be aware of some contraindications and potential dangers, which have only happened in extreme cases, but should not be forgotten.

In a very small number of cases, the use of this type of device has led to a massive ischemic stroke. It happens when used uncontrollably on the front and side of the neck, or inside the throat, when it has led to a dissection of the internal carotid artery. It is not advisable to be afraid of massagers but to be aware that they are not a toy.

In the same way, there is a remote risk of receiving an electric shock. Modern massagers are hermetically sealed, and batteries and cables are protected by coating them with rubber or plastic. But attention should be paid to a possible damaged wire. And above all, never use it in the bathroom or the pool.
