What about Brock Turner? This is another level of asshole, but I find it similar in many ways how the public and media react based on the color of people’s skin. Turner is not a celebrity yet the masses flocked to his side. The police/university campus cops for a long time didn’t want to release the mug shot so the media plastered his yearbook picture for us to see. Why? He’s a privilege white boy who got scott free for violently molesting and raping a woman while endangering her life; treating her like an animal. This same exact thing happened with a black athlete in another university and the outcomes were completely different. You get the mugshots instanteously. The media plays the events in a totally different way shaping our consiousness. We are so used to this we don’t even know it’s happening.
