the simplest thing to do would be to tax everything at a flat tax rate… however, while acknowledging variations in income type taxations produce distortions, I don’t understand when the arguments are made for a similar tax rate on dividends vs salaries. For example, if I make $100, and get taxed at 30%, then I have 70 left. I’d I use that 70 to invest in apple and get a dividend, why should that dividend be taxed at the same 30%? Isn’t that double taxation, and is that fair?
