One time, in a museum for modern art, I saw this huge three-part canvas with only a few crayon scribbles on it, leaving almost all of the canvas empty. I like a lot of modern and abstract art but this particular piece seemed ridiculous (can't remember the artist's name). My first thought was that this was a waste of canvas. But then it hit me: Part of the art is getting that piece into a museum. Everyone can scribble around but not everyone can get their scribbles exhibited in a major museum. Sometimes the context of an artwork is where it's at. And of course if I feel something when looking at the art, the artist has in a way succeeded. Fun read. Thanks!
