The stories we tell ourselves
It pays to be aware of all the times we tell stories to ourselves.
Sometimes it’s very good and it helps you in life.
When use it to avoid and resolve conflicts, or deal with a loss.
Sometimes it’s laughable.
When you bore others with your tales of how you once had this million dollar idea, and how circumstances prevented you from acting on it. And with this “Had I done this I would be a millionaire right now” narrative you’ve build based on those fairy tales.
Sometimes it’s detrimental and can even lead to a disaster.
When you try to find a rationalisation for your failed/ hopeless relationships, bad choices and miserable life.
Sometimes it cripples you.
When you come up with all the excuses why you can’t change this and that in your life.
