A blog charting the creation of a 3D version of the Rec area of the United States Commercial Spaceship Nostromo taken from Ridley Scott’s 1979 horror film ‘Alien’. Running in real-time within a current game engine and utilizing the most up-to-date pipeline and tools.

This blog will attempt to outline an overview of my project, my motivation and rationale for choosing it, a brief technical overview of the product and the process behind making it. I will regularly update with progress at all of the projects important milestones

In 1979 Ridley Scott released the film ‘Alien’, widely praised for its strong visual design, cinematography and horror atmosphere. Fast forward to 2014 and it’s still widely regarded as one of the best horror films ever made. For my Games Practical Project I will be recreating a small environment featured in the movie using the latest industry tools. The environment will the ‘Rec Room’ on board the spaceship ‘U.S.C.S.S Nostromo’ featured heavily in the opening 15 minutes of the movie.
