3 Ways to Build Authority with Facebook Live Stream
Just a few short weeks ago we rang in the new year with our friends and family and made new year resolutions that involved some form of self improvement. This year, I challenge you to stay ready, so you never have to get ready. What does that mean? It means to stay ahead of new and trending topics — jumping on opportunity when you see it, instead of scrambling to catch up when it is already too late. The first tool you will need to face this challenge: Facebook Live.
The new Facebook Live streaming feature will be one of the the biggest marketing moves for entrepreneurs in 2016, and it just became available to the public in recent weeks.

Facebook Live is a live video streaming feature, similar to the popular apps Periscope and Meerkat, that allows you to share a video in real-time with your audience. It is as simple as uploading a picture or writing a status! The benefit of using Facebook Live as opposed to other live streaming platforms? You already have an audience on Facebook, so you don’t have to start from scratch with a new platform.
How it works
- Open up your personal Facebook page (Facebook Live is not yet available for Business Pages)
- Click where it says “What’s on our mind?” as if you were writing a status
- Tap on the fifth icon at the bottom (the person with streaming rays above their head)
- Give your video a descriptive title, so viewers know what your live video is about
- Choose your audience
- GO LIVE!
Three ways you can use Facebook Live Stream to “Stay Ready”
- Go Behind the Scenes — Exclusivity is an appealing thing to an audience. When you give other behind the scenes access to your business, your brand, an interesting thing happens… attention of the viewer. We are all numb to the “same old same old” when it comes to marketing so the second that a restaurant takes me behind the scenes of their kitchen with their talented chef or the wedding photographer shows me what really happens during a photo shoot it ads another angle to your brand that wasn’t available to your audience before.
- Establish Credibility — Showcasing your clientele and the work that you are doing for them is a great start to building credibility with Facebook Live. Think of it as a live testimonial or a live look into you doing what you do best.
- Q&A Sessions — Show your expertise and personable side to your audience by hosting live Q&A sessions. Answering questions about specific topics in your industry is an ideal way of building authority in your niche . When you provide value in your content, people begin to remember your willingness to help, and turn to you first when they are the market for what you offer.
