To bring this down from the conceptual, to the very real daily/weekly repercussions — I’ve witnessed first hand the lack of speed and wasteful product development that comes from having a missing/lacking/inexperienced product function in a business and personally would only hire PMs who have proven they can ship products, on time, that people pay for, using best- or tailored-practices that leverage software and process, plus exceptional focus and persistence.
