23 years ago on October 26th, 2000, Sony Interactive Entertainment America released the best selling (155 million units!) and arguably the most beloved console of all time — the PlayStation 2. The legacy created by the sequel to Sony’s initial PlayStation had left an impact that today shines through to the present. From countless classic franchises that spawned to the fantastic online multiplayer experience that was not previously possible on the previous generations, this console revolutionized gaming for the better.

Over this article, I shall share the overall consensus from the gaming world alongside personal thoughts on what Sony’s 6th generation machine brought to the table.

Games, games, games.

PS2’s library is considered by the gaming community to be the pinnacle of excellence. From shooters that took the genre to new heights like SOCOM to the fantastic array of platforming legends like Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, and Ratchet & Clank, there is no understatement that PS2 had ushered in the modern formula of gaming still used today.
