The forgotten yet beloved handheld, the one to bring us into the AAA landscape on mobile, the one who came crashing down, burning at the speed of light. With the largest publisher at the time juggling a trio of platforms during its entire lifespan, troubled storage issues, and the lightning-fast release trickling down to a title here or there, this beautiful, powerful, and unique platform was something Sony could have done right.

PlayStation Vita, the successor to PlayStation Portable, launched in 2011 in Japan and the following year in North America and Europe. Bringing HD quality visuals, dual analog sticks, and even 3G to a handheld was a revolutionary concept for the time. It even featured a back touchpad for another layer of immersion, being able to use more than a single way to use touch controls.

With a gorgeous display, an extremely good starting library, and the ability to finally control 3D gaming using a second analog stick, how did things go so, so bad.
