I think this story is great example of the quote “Fortune favours the prepared mind” by Pasteur. I think your mindset and attitude are great, and an amazing asset that will probably get you wherever you want. Thanks for the inspiration.
edit: Paradoxically, I also kind of agree with Alphonso Morris comment, and dread those “magic fix” articles that thrive on our generation’s intolerance of frustration. But I don’t think what you did was easy. Of course there are the ingredients of luck, privilege and support, still I think this is a good example of UXing your UX career.
