We all think that we are very understanding and open people that are willing to support others. But I have a question for you. Have you ever turned to someone for support and felt like you left that conversation feeling worse about yourself? Have you ever had someone come to you and open up, and after the conversation ended, you were questioning them and the person they are? Then chances are, you need to learn how to become a more understanding person.

It takes a lot for people to feel comfortable opening up, and in reality, not many of us are very good at understanding the situation because most of us either want to fix it, or we don’t understand why they are upset.

If you want to learn how to be a better listener, better yourself or just want some self improvement tips, then this blog is for you.

Tip #1: It is Not About You (Even If It Is)

Often, when people are stressed and overwhelmed, they tend to take it out on those closest to them instead of the actual stressors.

Most people try their best to deal with their stress alone and when we get to the point of not being able to

Tip #2: Create A Judgement Free Environment

No matter what someone is going through, create a non-judgmental space. The connections you will build will become incredibly stronger.

Tip #3: Your Job Isn’t To Fix Their Problems

So many times we feel like we have to fix someone else’s problems. That’s not the case. Think about how many times you just wanted someone to listen. This is the same for other people. And plus, its not your job to fix their problems.

Tip #4: Focus On Their Feelings

Being an empath, I understand the power of focusing on their feelings. It allows for a deep connection, almost like a healing type engery. If you want to find more about being an empath and how to find out if you are one, you can take the FREE Quiz here.

Tip #5: Your Opinions Don’t Matter Unless They Ask

How many times have you been upset that someone else has shared their opinion you didn’t ask for. Depending on what they say, it can be frustrating and upsetting. To become more of an understanding person, share you opinions once they ask for them. When they do, you can be honest because it’s exactly what they asked for.

Conclusion

Being a more understanding person has many benefits. It allows you to be more empathetic and create deeping connections with people. Often time we live in a world where we feel like we are alone. I am here to tell you that you are not alone. There is a world out there that wants to connect, just sometimes gets lost with how. These tips are here to help you become a more understanding person.
