Another Bloody Love Story

Episode 10

Payson ran her hands through her hair and looked at Nyla to see what she thought. The two of them had been working on their pieces together and so far it was coming along well only Payson wasn’t sure about her routine. The two of them were in the dance class that was barely ever used now that they had lessons off campus. It was easier as well because no one disturbed them.

Nyla nodded. “It was perfect,” she said.

“You’re not just saying that are you?”

“No,” Nyla laughed. “I mean it. Now come on before we miss the game.”

“Oh crap I forgot,” she said pulling her shirt down. “Santana will kill me if I miss her routine. How long have we been here?”

“All afternoon,” she replied packing up her stuff.

“Ok,” she said. “I’m going to take a shower; can you wait for me?”

“I need to go to the library actually,” she said. “I’ll just meet you at the field.”

“Ok,” she said grabbing her stuff. “See you there.”

She ran to the showers closer to the field. She knew the cheerleader would be there but she was really surprised she had been dancing for that long.

“What are you doing?” Sammy asked.

“Going to shower,” she replied undressing.

“Please don’t tell me you’ve been dancing for the past four hours?”

“Something like that ya,” she replied. “Nyla is actually good company I didn’t notice how late it was getting.”

“Wow, what was she telling you about? Star Wars or something?” Lotus asked.

She rolled her eyes. “No. Like actual stuff, boys and relationships that kind of thing.”

“So is she dating Preston?” Chloe asked. She was a cheerleader and also on the dance squad but not a dancer.

“Preston?” Payson asked.

“Yeah, you know that dork who was so crazy obsessed with Farrah last time and kept on sending her all these love notes till Drake exposed him?”

“Oh,” she said when she remembered who she was talking about. It was such a big scandal at school mainly because people wouldn’t let him live him down. It was so embarrassing though, she felt bad for him. “No they’re not. They just talk that’s all.”

“Oh. So which guys were you talking about?”

“Well there’s this really hot guy that she likes and I think he likes her but I dunno she keeps pushing him away for some reason.”

“Sorry hot guy?” Santana asked.

“Yeah,” she said. “Anyway I need to shower real fast.”

She entered the shower and the cheerleaders kept her company while they changed into their uniforms. They mainly talked about boys and who liked who and who was cheating on who with who. Most commonly known as gossip.

They waited for her to dress up and she left her stuff then she left the changing room with them and went to find Farrah and Nyla. She was able to find Farrah so she sat down with her.

“How was it with Nyla?” Farrah asked.

“She’s actually not as bad as people make her out to be,” Payson said tying her hair back. “She’s actually really fun.”

Farrah rolled her eyes.

Nyla found her after some time and sat down next to her with a huge foam hand on her hand with the school’s colors on it.

“I had no idea you’re a football fan,” Payson said looking at her.

“I love football,” she said watching as the cheerleaders took the field. “Used to watch it all the time with my grandpa. He really got me into it.”

“Do you play?” Farrah asked.

She nodded. “I’m not amazing but I’m good.”

“OMG this is perfect,” Farrah said.

“What is?” Payson asked confused.

“Remember how we were asked as the dance squad to raise money for that charity thing. Well we could join that charity football tournament.”

“We don’t know the first thing about football,” Payson said.

“I know we don’t,” she said. “But Nyla could be our captain and we could get Vick or someone to be our coach.”

“Sounds like fun,” Payson smiled.

“You’re going to get killed out there,” Nyla said and the two of them laughed.

They watched the game until half time where the visitors were leading the game. The cheerleaders from both the teams took turns entertaining the crowds and both the routines were really good. It just so happened that both the football teams and the cheerleading squads were serious rivals when it came to events like this. It was why all the seats in the stadium were filled.

Payson got up and went to get something to eat and Farrah decided to go with her because she didn’t want to be left alone with Nyla even though she had now seen that Nyla was actually pretty cool company.

“Why didn’t you stay?” Payson asked as they made their way to the food stands.

“Like I wanna be seen with her,” Farrah said.

Payson rolled her eyes. “She’s a really nice girl.”

“I don’t care, I don’t wanna be seen with her.”

“Ok, I’ll pretend that’s not in the slightest way shallow,” Payson said fishing in her pocket for her wallet.

“Payson,” she heard someone call her. She turned and was surprised when she saw it was Xona.

“What are you doing here?” she asked looking at her.

“Well, Warren is a teacher here and he has to show team spirit seeing as though it’s the school’s biggest rival or something dramatic like that.”

The two of them laughed.

“You like football?” Xona asked.

“No,” she replied. “Just watching coz Santana and Sammy wanted me to come. We’re going out after. Where’s Mr. Cain anyway?”

“Last I saw him he was with some teacher talking about some charity event that’s coming up.”

“You wanna sit with us?” Payson asked.

She shrugged. “I guess it won’t hurt.”

Suddenly she turned her head and looked behind her. Payson followed her eyes and was a little surprised when she saw Scott. She was surprised for two reasons. She had no idea he went to their rival school and she also didn’t know that he played football. He wasn’t just any player; he was the wide receiver.

“Hey Scott,” Payson said waving at him.

“Hey,” he said looking at Xona then back at her.

“I had no idea you played football,” she said. “Oh this is my best friend Farrah and I guess you know Xona somehow.”

“Nice meeting you,” Scott said looking at Farrah.

“Shouldn’t you be on the pitch?” Xona asked.

“Need ice for my neck,” he said.

“Yeah they really tackled you on that last play,” Xona said looking at him.

He looked back at her then looked at Payson. “I should get some ice.”

“Nyla’s here to you know,” she beamed.

“Really?” he asked.

She nodded.

“I’ll talk to her after the game I guess,” he said.

“Nice meeting you,” Farrah said.

“Likewise,” he said and went on his mission to get ice for his neck.

“Hang on a second,” Farrah said when he was gone. “Wasn’t that Scott Knox?”

Payson nodded.

“How do you know him? I had no idea you ran in the Goth bad boy section.”

“Wow teenagers,” Xona said rolling her eyes.

Payson laughed.

“I know him through Nyla,” she said. “Her and Scott are friends.”

“How does she know Scott?”

Payson shrugged. “They’re friends.”

“I don’t believe you.”

The three of them were able to get hot dogs even though the crowed of people who had all huddled around the stands. They went back to their seats and Nyla was surprised when she saw they had come back with Xona.

“What are you doing here?” Nyla asked looking at her.

“I’m with Warren,” she said sitting down next to her.

“You two know each other?” Farrah asked looking at the two of them.

“Yeah we do” Xona said sitting down next to Nyla and giving her one of the two hotdogs she had bought. “She’s my baby cousin.”

“How are you related?” Payson asked sitting next to Xona.

“Our mums are sisters,” Nyla said looking at Xona.

“That’s weird though, coz the other day when I was telling you, that the two of you word your sentences funny you never said you were related.”

“I guess it slipped my mind,” Nyla shrugged. “I have a lot of relatives on both sides.”

“Speaking of slipping,” Payson beamed. “Guess who we met up with.”

“Who?” she asked taking a bite out of her hotdog.

“Scott,” she said. “You two actually have a lot more in common. He likes football also, in fact, he’s the other team’s wide receiver.”

Nyla froze.

“I take it you didn’t know that,” Payson said noticing her expression.

“No I didn’t,” Nyla said.

“Anyway he wants to meet up with you after the game.”

“How do you know Scott?” Xona asked looking at Nyla.

“He works at the diner where I hang out,” Nyla replied. “How do you know Scott?”

Xona shrugged. “I don’t, well not really. I know his family.”

It was obvious Nyla wanted to ask how she knew his family but she didn’t. She just kept quiet.

“He’s hot though,” Farrah said. “I’ve never seen Goth playing wide receiver and I gotta say its super sexy if you ask me.”

Nyla didn’t say anything she just continued eating her hotdog while they watched the rival cheerleaders. It was a really intense game. Even the cheerleaders were taking it seriously as well as the supporters.

Payson looked over at her side and looked at Xona. She seemed deep in thought so it was obvious but she was surprised when she turned her head and looked at her.

“What?” she asked her.

“Nothing,” Payson shrugged.

Xona searched her face then looked back at the field and so did she.

The game started again and it was very clear that Nyla was a football fan. She kept on calling out passes to the team and cursing if they fumbled the ball and even making taunts at the other team. They were all amused to see her like this because Nyla had a very harmless exterior and she came off as extremely weak but it was obvious she was far from it.

The game ended with the Rival team winning only because Scott was able to score the last touchdown at the very last second, otherwise it would’ve been a draw. Nyla was crushed and she kept on going on about how somehow should’ve been watching him and tackled him before he got his hands on the ball.

“Ok Nyla,” Xona said. “We get it.”

“But did you see how open they left him?” she asked as they made their way down from where they were sitting. “It’s almost like they didn’t expect that play to happen.”

“I don’t think anyone saw that play coming,” Farrah said. “All the same we’re still in the league it’s not like we’re out.”

“I know we’re not,” she said. “But they’re now a point ahead of us.”

“We’ll get them back next time,” Payson said rubbing her back.

“I just can’t believe it happened you know?” she said looking at Payson.

“You and Warren would get along great,” Xona said looking at her. “He’s also football crazy.”

“Where is he?” Nyla asked.

“He ended up sitting with the other teachers,” Xona said.

“But did you see how open they left him?”

“OMG Nyla if you bring that up again I swear I will punch in you the neck,” Payson said.

“I’m sorry,” she said. “It’s just –“
 “Nyla,” they heard someone call.

They all turned and Payson couldn’t help but smile when she saw it was Scott. He walked over to them with his helmet in his hands.

“Hi,” she said looking at him.

“Hey,” he said looking at her. He paused for a bit when he saw the huge foam hand she had on her hand with their school colors on it.

“Wow,” he said. “I had no idea you’re a fan.”

“I am,” she said. “You shouldn’t even be talking to me after what you did,” she said poking him with her huge foam finger.

He smiled. “What did I do?”

“Don’t play dumb,” she said. “You won the stupid game.”

He smiled and he had the cutest smile on the planet. “Lemme make it up to you.”

Nyla glared at him.

“No seriously,” he said. “A group of us are going over to the lake house to hang out. You should come, you should all come.”

“I can’t,” Xona said. “Spending my time with teenagers might get me arrested.”

Payson and Farrah both laughed. “Come on, it will be fun.”

“I can’t,” she said. “I have stuff I need to sort out at the empire anyway.”

“Empire?” Nyla asked looking at her.

“I’ll show it to you some time,” she said.

“So Nyla,” Scott said. “Will you come?”

She was about to answer till she looked behind him and saw the blond girl from the diner talking to some other guy and they both seemed to be watching them.

“I can’t,” she said finally. “I’ve got stuff I need to do.”

“Nyla,” Payson said looking at her. “Come on we should go.”

“You can go,” she said. “I have stuff I need to do. I should even get going now. I’ll see you guys at school on Monday and Scott I’ll see you tomorrow at work. You played really well.”

With that she walked away.

Nyla ran her hands through her curly hair and continued walking. She could tell Payson was wondering why she turned down the guy she liked but to her it was obvious. She had a lot of school stuff she needed to get sorted and she couldn’t afford any distractions especially that now she was going to cast the biggest spell ever to be cast in the history of spells.

Beck raised his head and watched as Angel entered his study. Just by his expression he already knew what the news was and he was dreading to hear it.

“The Order is here,” he said.

Beck cursed under his breath.

* * *

“You’re sure they’re here?” Warren asked looking at her as she paced.

“Yes Warren I’m sure,” she said pacing. “Would I be freaking out like this if they weren’t?”

“So what happens now?” he asked.

“Well for starters we lay low,” she said pacing. “We just continue the way we were when we got here. You continue with your kids I continue with my empire and I’m sure they won’t suspect much if we lay low.”

“But they will wonder why we came here out of all the places we could go to. Why would we come to one of the sunniest places in the world? Also this just happens to be werewolf central.”

“As a way for us to lay low,” she said. “If we’re seen out to often it would be hard for us to change our identity when we decide to migrate somewhere else.”

He nodded in agreement.

“Have you heard from the wolf kid?”

“Not yet,” she said pacing. “If I don’t I can find a way to persuade him.”

“How would you manage that?” he asked.

“I know his weakness,” she said looking at him.

“What would that be?” he asked.

She was just about to answer when they heard a knock on the door. The two of them looked at each other and Xona went to open the door. She was expecting to see men in dark suits but instead it was a teenage girl with green watery eyes.

“Payson,” she said looking at her. “What are you doing here?”

Payson looked at her and her eyes got even more watery. “I’m sorry.”

“No,” she said opening the door. “Come in.”

“Have you lost your fucking mind?” Warren asked her in Japanese.

She glared at him. “She’s crying,” she replied in Japanese. “What do you want me to do?”

“They will be here any second,” he said. “And you’re inviting in a snack?”

“I’ll cast a protection spell around here,” she said.

“Is now a bad time?” Payson asked looking at the two of them.

“No,” Warren lied. “We weren’t expecting to see you that’s all. Could you wait for Xona in her room, it’s just down the hall and the second left, she’ll be with you in a second.”

Payson nodded.

“Make yourself comfortable,” Xona said.

She nodded and left the room.

Xona looked at him. “Thank you.”

“Didn’t we talk about this?” he asked her in a low voice. “You said you got this and you won’t mix the two. It looks very much like you are mixing the two.”

Xona didn’t say anything she just slowly exhaled.

“I’ll scope the area,” he sighed. “She may have attracted unwanted attention.”

“I owe you one,” she said looking at him.

“If it was reversed,” he said picking up his sword. “You would do the same for me.”

“Scope the area?” she said looking at him. “No way.”

He chuckled and left.

She sighed and went to her room.

Payson raised her head and pushed her hair out of her face as Xona walked in. She wiped the tears away from her eyes. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I just didn’t know where else I could go.”

“No its fine,” Xona said closing the door behind her. “What’s wrong?”

“I got into a fight with my parents,” she said. “I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have come here.”

“No,” Xona said kneeling down in front of her. “No I’m happy you’re here. Come on tell me about the fight.”

She ran her hands through her hair and looked down at Xona. “Just the same old stuff as normal. I wanted to go out with Farrah and Sammy but they said I have to stay home and work on my solo. Its like they don’t get I want to have a normal life as well. Like I just wanna hang out with my friends and do stupid stuff and not feel trapped.”

Xona stood up and held her hand out to her. “Get up.”

“What?” Payson said looking up at her.

“Get up,” she said. “I wanna dance with you.”

“Are you being serious?” Payson asked looking at her.

Xona kept holding her hand out to her.

Payson said and let her take her hand. Xona pulled her up and led her to the living room then turned on the stereo.

The song started to play and at first she didn’t recognize it but she watched as Xona slowly moved towards her. She took her hand and held her waist then pulled her closer to her.

“Why are –“

“Shh,” Xona said cutting her off. “Just listen to the music and move with me ok?”

Payson looked at her and sighed but held her back all the same. She wasn’t really listening to the music at first, she was trying to understand why Xona was making her dance to a slow song.

“Listen to the music,” Xona said rubbing her back gently. “Don’t force it just relax and listen.”

“Xona,” Payson said looking at her.

“Payson,” Xona said looking at her. “Trust me.”

Payson sighed and started to listen to the music. It wasn’t long before she started to feel it and move to it with Xona. She moved closer to Xona and closed her eyes and Xona held her even closer to her. They moved together for number of songs Payson didn’t even notice. She noticed that the more they listened to music the better she started to feel.

“This is working,” she whispered.

“You’re feeling better?” Xona asked.

“Yeah,” she said. “I actually feel dumb for crying.”

Xona chuckled. “You were feeling low,” she said rubbing her back. “It’s understandable.”

“I didn’t mean to offload on you like that,” she said looking at her.

“I’m happy you came,” she smiled.

“Really?” Payson asked looking at her. “Why’s that?”

“You knew I would be able to cheer you up,” she smiled. “I’m flattered.”

Payson pushed her playfully. “Now you sound cocky.”

Xona smiled.

Payson smiled back then leaned on her again and closed her eyes as the two of them danced.

“I love this song,” Xona said.

Payson looked at her and smiled then held out her hand to her. “I would be more than happy to dance with you.”

Xona smiled. “Don’t mind if you do.”

Payson took her hand and spun her around and the two of them started to dance. First the waltz then they mixed in a bit of the tango then some ballroom. It was toward the end when they started to freestyle with contemporary.

They two of them were having a really goodtime then the song ended and they were both panting and looking at each other.

“Wow,” Payson panted. “That was amazing.”

“Yeah it was,” Xona smiled also panting.

Payson smiled at her then bit her lower lip and looked away from her for a second then looked back at her. She wasn’t sure what it was about Xona other than the fact that she was incredibly beautiful but she just wanted to be around her . . . in any way possible. She leaned in and kissed her. Her lips were cold but very soft.

She was about to pull away when she realized Xona wasn’t going to kiss her back but she did. They held each other even closer and kissed each other even harder but there was still so much passion.

“This is awkward,” Warren said closing the door behind him.

The two of them pulled apart and looked at him. At that point Payson was more than red in the face, Xona on the other hand was playing it cool.

“Could you give us a minute?” Xona asked looking at her.

Payson nodded. “I’ll be in your room.”

“You can watch a movie or whatever,” Xona said. “This might take a while.”

Payson let go of her and left the two of them in a room together.

“Put up the protection spell,” Warren said.

“We’re not clear?” Xona asked looking at him.

“Just do it,” he snapped.

She looked at him then cast the spell. Like she expected it weakened her but she was still able to stand. “So what’s out there?”

“Nothing,” he said. “Still better safe than sorry, I am not in the mood to fight tonight.”

She nodded.

“I take it she’s staying the night,” Warren said removing his shirt.

“I dunno,” she replied. “I guess it would be safer if she did.”

He nodded. “I agree. I hope you remember she’s my student and this puts me in an awkward position. Not to mention if this ever gets out, they will throw in the fact that you own a porn empire and make this even more perverted than it is.”

Xona ran her hands through her hair.

“You care about her don’t you?” Warren asked leaning on a wall.

“What gave me away?” Xona asked looking at him.

“Other than the fact that I walked in on you sucking her face off?” he asked and she laughed. “I see the way you look at her.”

Xona didn’t say anything.

“Go entertain your guest,” he said. “I’ll stay up.”

Xona smiled and went to her room where Payson was trying to figure out how to use the remote.
