I learned a lesson in the past: don’t assume that somebody who’s by a magnitude greater than you is stupid. Read twice and then again. It’s probably the effects of envy you’re feeling, just you’re not fully understanding.
Wow man. No need to attribute malice to my comment. I don’t think Sindre Sorhus is stupid.
Also, not I care all the much, but who are you to say he’s “by a magnitude greater” than I!? This dev celebrity-status thing needs to stop. There are many very talented developers who don’t have the time or resources to create 100’s of projects on GitHub. I appreciate the work that he does, but I don’t measure greatness by someone’s GitHub activity graph.
Your point about the distinction between library authors and frontend devs is valid. I think some of my frustration is more directed at the frontend dev community than Sindre’s per-se, for not seeing the distinction, and for going “all-in” on micro-packages without considering the downsides in the context of frontend. Again, People tend to accept “high-profile” developer’s opinion as gospel. This is a big problem within our industry.
Please don’t assume so much about people’s motivations in writing something. It’s very off-putting.
