Ramblings on how Fiat Group could make Italy, Italia again!
Fiat has passed an identity crisis for almost 2 decades, with the separation of Ferrari, everything got worse, this will be a rambling on how Fiat could rebrand their Italian brands, that are full of history and pedigree and make Italy great once more.
So Fiat, Abarth, Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Maserati add to this the good relations with Ferrari (will be relevant).
FIAT
Fiat today makes inexpensive decent cars and enterprise cars. Fiat as a good path, commercial cars are selling, other cars are too, the model is simple, follow Renault, or better Dacia.

Abarth
Abarth, the most successful boutique brand, they are the racing/sport brand of fiat, they get the common cars and make them mad. It has been doing great, no need to change much (Abarth could follow even more the Renault Sport model) and that’s it.

Alfa Romeo
Now the failing ones, Alfa Romeo (getting revived with a new line of cars). Alfa is the common man Ferrari, when someone buys an Alfa Romeo, one is buying a good part of a Ferrari, the feeling, the dynamics, some of the performance, similar emotions, bits and parts from Ferrari (just like the Audi RS2 and Porsche), Alfa Romeo, again, is the Ferrari of the people. Focus should always be on performance and driving dynamics, rather than comfort and luxury.
Alfa is getting a Stelvio and Giulia, the later being a great revival, but the Stelvio makes absolute no sense in existing, it’s the dumbest model for Alfa possible. Alfa needs a wagon (Giulia wagon) and and to make remakes of the 4C and make Mito and Giulietta better and faster.

Lancia & Maserati
From the Stelvio, we can delve right in into Lancia and Maserati. Lancia and Maserati should share the same synergy and spirit as Alfa Romeo does with Ferrari, Maserati is the luxury car, Ferrari powered, but heavier and more luxurious (like a Italian RWD Bentley would be) and Lancia should be the common people luxury car.
How would the model range of Lancia / Maserati look like?
First, the Ghibli, the Levante (Stelvio) should become Lancia models, they have no place in Maserati line and Maserati should up the game with the Quattroporte, put in the market the new GranTurismo and if they want an SUV, that should go for the middle ground between a Bentayga and a Cayenne, or a Range Rover / Cayenne. The Levante is a competitor of the Macan in the best days, but it sucks at everything, including price when compared with the Macan, makes no sense for a lesser car like the Levante to be in the Maserati range, no way, but on Lancia, it makes total sense, because, now it’s not a lesser car in a high-couture luxury brand, it’s a good car in a great brand.

Maserati, now would have 3 very solid models that fuel the brand, instead of diluting it, while making some money (they could go for a 7-series/S-Class type of car too).

Lancia, now, with Maserati figured out, and without being a fashionable fiat and instead a more affordable Maserati, could continue with the Y, develop the Lancia Delta into a decent sportif pocket rocket, add the luxury and use that to make a crossover and a modern day Rally Car (to pay tribute to the magnificent Delta).
Another model they should add to the line is a coupe (that could become a cabrio) as a cheaper alternative to the GranTurismo substitute, the Ghibli platform could work well for this so they had 3 cars with 1 platform. The only one missing would be the Levante, that makes a lot of sense given the range and the brand, at least a lot more sense than it makes in Maserati.

Lancia now would have a very luxurious line of cars and a competitive one, because there is something very elegant about a Lancia, it’s something that is very hard to put a finger on, but Lancia as a je ne sais quoi that no other brand has, every time I think of Lancia I think of rally, Enzo Ferrari chauffeur car, rally, and a fun luxurious car, somewhat like an Alfa, but without the same priorities regarding performance and lightness.
Now a some Lancia historical cars and Models:

And that’s it. Magneti Marelli, could get their shit together and not fuck up, develop a reliable electronic circuits and technology to be shared by every car, have Ferrari supply their last model engines to Maserati (and the top range of Alfa and Lancia) and get the diesels right across the range as well as the petrol engines (with the partnership with Abarth).
Tech could be shared across the range, minimizing R&D, if tech was all similar reliability would soon increase, because there is more money being poured in, more data and a bigger risk/pressure to not fk up and everyone would try to make sure that no one in the R&D fk up because it affects everyone and everyone could contribute to solve the several problems that would come across.
So to Summarize:
Fiat, cheap, city, family and commercial cars.
Abarth, fun versions of Fiat cars.
Alfa Romeo, cheaper more usable versions of Ferraris.
Maserati, Luxury performance cars. Like Bentley, but more fun.
Lancia, more affordable luxury cars that can offer good. dynamics/performance as well. Lancia should be something like an italian Mercedes. More stylish, weirder looks, better leather, less plastic, RWD.
