Conor McGregor signs his side of the contract to fight Floyd Mayweather
Why we can start looking at prices to Vegas and prepare for the scramble to get tickets,
After a year’s speculation, the fight that every UFC fan has waited for is finally nearing a conclusion and we can finally see the bout that would mostly likely be the first fight exceed 1 Billion-Dollars. Floyd “Money” Mayweather last fought in September 2015 while Conor announced he would be taking a break from fighting to look after his pregnant girlfriend late last year.
Since may last year, all we’ve been hearing about is Conor McGregor wanting to fight Floyd Mayweather, with the arguably the best defensive fighter to graze the sport, announcing that he would come out of retirement to fight the Irishman.
Conor McGregor said in a statement issued that he had signed a deal with Dana White and the UFC. “It is an honour to sign this record breaking deal alongside my partners Zuffa LLC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Paradigm Sports Management.
The first, and most important, part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on. Congratulations to all parties involved. We now await Al Haymon and his boxer’s signature in the coming days.”
Dana White made an appearance on TNT’s Inside the NBA on Wednesday saying that ““The McGregor side is done,” White told TNT. “I’m starting to work on the Mayweather side now” — however we know ‘the money team’ can be extremely difficult to work with and prolong the process to benefit themselves. Even though both fighters will make over 100 million dollars for this fight alone.
Floyd Mayweather was at a press conference with his protégé Gervonta Davis before his fight in London where he refused to comment on McGregor’s statement that he had sign a deal by saying “That’s total disrespect to both of these fighters, it’s their press conference, let’s talk about them. Both of these fighters deserve respect.”
However recently after heaping huge raise on “The Notorious”, at the start of the year Floyd revealed during an interview that Conor is a heavy hitter with is trademark left look and during his fights he primarily has a boxing stance. Furthermore, he hinted that the 12-year age difference could play a factor and that anything is possible in boxing — however we all know that Floyd would love to finish his career with a 50–0 record.
Conor McGregor Jr was born on the 5th of May and all is well as he posts regular updates on Instagram. However, next to all the photos of his Rolls-Royce and Gucci clothes we can see an increase in his training program which include numerous videos of him showing off his boxing routines as well as increasing his stamina for the difference between the Five rounds of UFC to the 12 rounds of boxing.
The fight needs to happen this year otherwise as Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza said, “if they don’t move relatively quickly, people may move on.” Floyd isn’t in the same situation as he was with Manny Pacquiao where he can waste years stalling the arrangements to suit his needs. At 40 years old, he is well past his prime while Conor is hitting his, there isn’t much time for the fight to take place.
Finally, all the pieces of the puzzle seem are coming together, the last year of trash talking each other over social media and comparing one another’s salaries. Will be disputed within the ring in the city that is basically famous for being the venue of boxing matches over the past 50 years, Vegas Baby.
