Sadness — loss of a loved one

What is it about sadness that alienates us from ourselves?

We dive into ourselves, like darkness falling from a cliff, looking for answers.

It’s universal, I think, to feel sad. To worry that we’re not normal, that no one else feels this depth of solace that hides deep within the heart.

Sadness is good, I think. Without it, we wouldn’t know what it means to rise from earth’s trenches, ready to begin anew on the battlefield of life.

Sadness from a loss is even harder. That’s when you begin to realize that the feeling is even harder to navigate than you realized, and you’re way out of your league.

But many waters cannot quench love.

Hold the sadness deep, my friends, but hold love closer.

When there’s nothing but you and darkness, and the loss of a loved one looms in your face, remember how much fun you had with them; remember the good times.

Many cannot quench love; it’s fire is bright.
