The Electoral College worked. The system was put in place to protect the small states rights from the larger states. California and New York had 18.4 million votes and Hillary outpolled Trump by 4,740,000 and won the 84 electoral votes.
In the other 48 States 111+ million votes, Trump outpolled Hillary by over 3.4 million, winning 290 to 154 from the remaining states. Although Hillary won by 1.3 million votes, the Electoral College protected the States’ Rights of a vast majority of the total votes from the extreme disparity of votes in only two states.
