Mainframes host huge part of world’s banking, insurance and retail data. How do you make this data available to your data scientists? In this video you will learn how to find and consume data from IBM Z without moving it off mainframe.

We show how to catalog traditional non-relational data sources using IBM Watson Knowledge Catalog®. We create connection to IBM Data Virtualization Manager for z/OS® (DVM) and catalog virtual views as data assets.

Data is classified and checked for quality

We catalog COBOL Copybook maps to describe layout in data files on mainframe.

COBOL Copybook maps are imported via DVM connection

Finally, we show how to use Data refinery to join data from VSAM file with IBM Cloud Object Storage data.
