The Pie Guys: Best in Oswego
For my final Oswego pizza review, a friend told me I had to visit The Pie Guys Pizzeria and Fish Fry. I had never been there before, but I went with my friend Asia and was surprised by how close it is to campus. Of all the pizzerias I have reviewed, this one is the closest to campus, located at 6 Baylis Street.
In the ideal location to appeal to college students, The Pie Guys is a small brown building. Once inside, one can see from one end of the store to the other. There was a large, open kitchen space where we could watch food being prepared. There were seven large booths. I was impressed with the amount of seating, ideal for a family or a group of friends to get lunch.
The Pie Guys offers a large menu with reasonable prices, including many specialty pizzas, wings, fish fry dinners, hot heros, subs, gyros, calzones, stromboli, salads, bread bowls and a large selection of appetizers. We ordered slices of pizza from the four options that were ready-made for $1.99 a slice.
The pizza was fresh and hot. It was greasy, the crust was crispy and thin and there was a perfect amount of cheese. It was a classic New York style pizza. Asia said she liked the “pepperoni-to-pizza ratio” on her slice and that it had more sauce than she was used to. I liked the amount of sauce, thinly spread over the pizza. The cheese covered the whole surface of the slice and there was a pleasant amount of crispy, burnt cheese on the crust.
I would recommend The Pie Guys to anyone looking for a practically-perfect pizza within walking distance of SUNY Oswego’s campus. They offer free delivery and it’s also a nice place to eat in with friends or family. Overall, this is the best pizza spot I have found in Oswego.
I rate the pizza quality a 4.5 out of 5.
I rate the atmosphere a 3.5 out of 5.
I rate the variety of options a 4 out of 5.
