I dispute the idea that large cities are inherently more economically productive for all/most people. I do not dispute that we need some amount of large cities for an effective modern economy, nor do I dispute that large cities have many features that make people more productive; for example, universities. But it is largely those amenities, not density itself, that boosts productivity.
