In Defense of Inefficient “Hobby-Hustles”

I produce a couple hundred greeting cards a year and have been asking myself that minimum wage question as the work involved adds up. I used to get things printed cheaply and do the scoring/folding myself so I could get production costs down to $1.25 a card (sold for $5), but now I’m turning to places like Moo that will do it all for me for $2.60. I’m saving many hours of monotonous folding time that I do not enjoy doing. In a sense if that time were paid I could look at it as a money-saving change. Right now it feels like I’m exchanging profit for a more enjoyable process, which is probably a good thing.
