No day is the same!

I’ve worked at holiday extras now for 23 years and I can hand on heart say I never get bored!

In my current role as lead technical product manager and adventure lead no day at HX is the same.

I always think will I get bored of what I do.. the answer is always No! Is there more I can learn.. the answer is always yes 🙌

Being completely honest there are days where it can be too busy but they go so fast and those days are where teamwork is at its best. Days when things go wrong as systems always do no matter how hard you try to cover every scenario things break but it’s just as important how we all pull together and get things back on track again.

It can be frustrating when I have my day planned and things I want to get done but they can always wait for another day and I focus on where the business needs me most at that time and what problems need solving the most.

My technical background is that I know our back office system like the back of my hand and it’s my comfort blanket for sure where I feel safe and confident working on any developments with a great team. However as technologies change and gosh they change so quickly we have to focus on moving away from parts of our system that have single points of failure and to new systems so that the busy an continue to expand and grow without any limitations.

So at times I have to throw away that comfort blanket and push for change, but I am finding that you wouldn’t expect it’s sooo much harder than it seems to turn things off!! Unpicking a system that does so much and is the heart of so many things will definitely be a challenge to keep me learning even more over the years to come.

So I have no doubt I will continue to not be bored 😂😂 and who know what challenges I may face and what customer problems I may help solve.
