I disagree with this. People like you make it so that pretty much anyone with tan skin is black. You’re the “black” that people will accept because you’re not actually black according to phenotype. And when you’re accepting yourself as black, other black people who have two black parents and little to no admixture are being ignored for mixed race people claiming black and only black. Why is it that you can’t claim mixed race? You and Obama could’ve worked to eliminate the racist one drop rule, but instead, you promote the idea that anyone with black in them has to claim only their black heritage. Some of us don’t want to just recognize 50% of ourselves or 66% or even 75% of ourselves. I’m black and white. 34% of my ancestry is European and 66% African. I identify as mixed race despite phenotypically appearing blacker than you, yet still obviously not black like my mother. Rashida Jones can claim black yet she is only 1/3 black just like I am a little more than 1/3 white. Without my mostly white father, I wouldn’t exist. Without my black mother I wouldn’t exist. I’m mixed race. Black and White, not just one or the other. You are mixed race as well and definitely not just a black woman.
