Thanks for your reply. I actually just read your other article and commented on Will’s reply about small shops and the cost of support.

You absolutely can come up with a workable support plan for software, but it is important to start planning from product conceptualization.

Very small shops that create applications can come up with plans under the traditional model. Will is right in that people do not like to pay for support, however you structure one taking that into account. You allocate X amount for support, but at the same time, provide other value based support plans and perhaps, utilize your support infrastructure to promote value based upselling.
