Wanting enforcement of laws regarding illegal immigrants is neither racist or anti-immigrant, however there are many organizations who are trying to re-frame it as racist in order to defame those who simply want enforcement.

Cracking down on businesses and individuals knowingly hiring illegals would significantly help — I agree. Likewise, knowingly harboring an illegal immigrant that isn’t given legal temporary stay by the federal government should be a felony and apply without exception to members of churches and city officials.

I believe you also missed another group — people who marry US citizens, marry US permanent residents or the same who adopt internationally. All these legal immigrants undergo an arduous process to ensure they do not represent a criminal risk or become a financial burden on the American public. Certain portions of that process are rather arbitrary and unnecessary and that’s one place that immigration reform should happen.

We can make no real statement of fact about illegal immigrants, except that they have not undergone one of the many processes to ensure they are not a criminal or financial risk to the public — regardless of their origin.
