Stepping Stone Saturday

I write about autism every day. My son Owen is four and has moderate to severe autism. He is learning to talk, the doctors told me he might not, he is figuring out the world and I am so proud of his accomplishments. These are my daily thoughts on Facebook. Join us on our daily journey.

Stepping stone Saturday. Yesterday the dude woke with a fierce sense of happy. He woke ready for the world, today not so much. He is coming around now but the start of his day did not make him happy. Not really sure what the difference from yesterday to today was, but like all of us he had opinions about everything. Now that we’ve been up a couple hours things are calming down and I had a huge mom score because Owen is eating bananas on his waffles. I squished the banana into the little holes and he is eating it! This was after I tried to get him to use the banana phone and let me eat some. The sensory overload that just one food can cause is amazing. The interesting thing is he will react to things differently in other environments as well. As we move from Crankyville to Smileyland I hope that it stays and that we can go on all our adventures today. Always remember you are a lot stronger than you think you are. This day is yours to make amazing. Smiles to all and donut daze!
