Great article and greatly appreciated. Gets right at the heart of this matter. Maybe these choices can be construed as some kind of artistic freedom but in the final analysis, she does a huge disservice by continuing the practice of “erasure aesthetics”… erasing whatever is inconvenient to the truth she desires to propagate, in this case, erasing the reality of the Black women that are a real part of the story and all related racial references relative to the Civil War. She is actively propagating and perpetuating a lie. And… seems to have a penchant for that. To say that her consciousness is “disappointing” is a vast understatement…
