Hmmm… nope. Let us not.
If the design isn’t both beautiful and functional, it’s just vulgar.
Like Vignelli would repeat a quinllion times:
“It isn’t so difficult to define beauty. Beauty is the opposite of vulgarity.”
Most people think of Design as, primarily, a form of art. It isn’t.
We’re supposed to be timeless and elegant problem solvers. We expect such solutions to be very opposite to vulgarity, antithetical to the futile.
Beautiful design derives from the simplicity that stems out of these.
So, fuck beauty (after you make it; and make it good).
