Sharing Oprah’s recipe for success
Conquering comebacks with creative collaboration
Through partnerships with Discovery, Hearst Magazine, Weight Watchers, Proctor & Gamble, Teavana®, and more, Oprah promotes a happy, healthy lifestyle and continuously serves as an example of an intelligent, driven media mogul who keeps a smile on her face.
Respected for funding charities and providing scholarships, Oprah embraces her active role as a humanitarian, philanthropist, and positive social influencer to youth.
Oprah “knows for sure that it’s a lot more fun” to give gifts than receive them. “Nothing makes me happier than a gift well given and joyfully received” (85).
Oprah’s healthy choices and thoughtful, intelligent decisions result in strategic choices of advertisements that reflect her mission.
For example, shortly after its launch in 2014, I discovered a new item at Starbucks: co-created Teavana® Oprah Cinnamon Chai Tea.
Naturally, I felt compelled to try it.
The result? a delicious, spicy zest that benefits the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.
Revamped after its debut in October 1996, Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 continues its influence across multiple platforms, including O, the OWN Network, Oprah.com, and various forms of social media.
Oprah’s October pick: Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton.
Oprah demonstrates resilience by advising to heal wounds of the past and view experiences as opportunities to re-shift focus in her book, What I Know For Sure, published in September 2014.
“Don’t fight them. Let them help you adjust your footing… In this moment, you’re finding a way to step onto higher ground” (35).
Though I do not personally know Oprah, from my understanding, she truly is the genuine, poised woman she appears to be.
My admiration for Oprah began at a young age, but increased upon meeting Mr. William Becker, who served as General Counsel and Vice President of Harpo Productions Inc. after joining Harpo Inc. in January 2005. He is an extremely intelligent man and a noble leader whom I admire as well.
I applaud Oprah’s success through creative collaborative efforts, but, most of all, I respect both of them for being brilliant, genuine, humble, and selfless.
“When you make loving others the story of your life, there’s never a final chapter… the only thing that will have any lasting value is whether we’ve loved others and whether they’ve loved us” (71).
I’ve never met her, but I certainly enjoy her twist on chai tea and positive flavor for life.
