I love pieces like this. When someone takes the time to strip away layers and show the base of what’s going on. You’re so right about cultural transmission and how it can and will linger. Linguists do this all the time. Cultural analysts should borrow from them more.

It shows even more that the cultural water we swim in is poisoned against far too many people for an accident of birth and cultural variety. Thank you so much for writing this. It’s real work to stand up and speak on this when so many still won’t listen. I respect you for daring to try. I hope someone sees what you’re saying who needs to start learning to recognize the water they’re swimming in.
