Unmanned systems are some of the fastest-growing systems in the world. It’s a revolutionary advancement that’s taking the place of manual data collection, security, and more. But it’s also a hassle that many businesses aren’t willing to invest in, particularly if there’s a fundamental lack of strategy and execution to implement them.

It takes someone special to understand both the technology and the people.

It takes someone like Dan Fuller.

THE UNMANNED SYSTEM PHENOMENON

Though there have been versions of UAVs since WWII, the vast advancement in technology now includes artificial intelligence and more reliable and sophisticated systems. They’re simpler to use. They’re easier to implement. In a nutshell, they make business better.

Work within UAV circles has helped reduce human error in everything from transportation to job creation. UAVs have expanded into sustainability fields as well, making people and machinery more productive than ever before.

When it comes to their use in a commercial market, the innovations are unmatched. In fact, the economic impact of UAVs could create $350 billion to $400 billion in revenue for companies by the year 2035.

It’s astonishing, really, that something so innocuous even 30 years ago is now the headliner for a new age.

UNMANNED COMMERCIALISM

It wasn’t until the mid-2000s that governments allowed the private usage of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), opening up the possibility for commercial applications. They quickly gained momentum, growing in industries such as real estate, construction, agriculture, and film, making them one of the fastest-growing products on the market. Today, you’ll see UAVs for

· Surveys and inspections: Construction, real estate, and insurance companies use drones to reduce time and increase safety and efficiency.

· Delivery: Logistics and e-commerce companies are ditching driving in favor of delivering goods with drones.

· Data collection: Environmentalists and oil industries use sensors to collect data on fields and pipelines.

· Security: Police and security companies opt for unmanned systems to monitor physical and virtual properties, using drones and cameras to make wider sweeps.

· Entertainment: Filmmakers and photographers opt for more unique perspectives with unmanned systems to enhance the quality of their products.

Of course, there are thousands more. According to the US GAO, it’s predicted that there will be nearly 850,000 drones used in commercial settings in 2024.

It’s clear that they’re not going anywhere.

UNDERSTANDING THE MARKET

Companies often face unexpected challenges that can either make or break their success. The COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated these challenges, creating a stark divide between businesses that embraced technology and those that struggled to adapt.

But one of the biggest problems that most companies have with unmanned systems is implementation. There are so many options, so many ways to utilize them, that uninformed companies are often lost in the shuffle.

So, what are companies really missing in tech realms?

1. Talent restrictions

Maybe not surprisingly for many, the market isn’t kind to companies that either don’t pivot fast enough or don’t possess the right tools for success.

COVID created a huge rift in every company. Either businesses blossomed or they sank. The people who didn’t use the tech that filled in the cracks of their talent pool couldn’t make adjustments fast enough. Those that did are still around today.

2. Lack of IT support

The people who don’t speak the lingo don’t know how to integrate key tech into their systems.

IT support is hit-and-miss with so many tech companies on the market. If you contact the wrong one, you may just feel more confused by the end of the connection.

3. Complexities with new tech

So many new tech companies and products have hit the market in the last few years. A lot of new companies simply don’t use the new tech because they don’t know how to use it. They don’t know how to implement it.

It’s not new. But with the rate of tech advancement, it’s becoming more and more essential to know at least the basics.

With the confusing landscape and worry that comes with new tech, it’s important to get the essentials.
