Great post.
David Baron

Considering flesh has been found in human feces, there is little doubt that cannibalism occurred. It’s difficult to determine why, however the natives I spoke with didn’t even try and guess at it. They understandably don’t want to judge their ancestors without sufficient evidence, and instead, they asked me to emphasize the wonders that the ancestral peoples accomplished, as an attempt to criticize how they have been remembered.

This is a people which vanished suddenly over the course of one century and of which very little remains. We will likely never know why the ancestral peoples practiced cannibalism, and perhaps shouldn’t even guess. It is profoundly western of us to assume that such a judgement can be made about a people with whom with have so little in common.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
