As I have just completed my two years of B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering, so it is not possible that I would apply for a job. But I have to do a task to practice my elevator pitch, therefore I went for internship.

I recently completed my internship at Emporium Mall. I worked as a Trainee Engineer in MEP department. I was directed to be on site and office was a “No Go Area” for me until my sir called me. So, I was often working on the site and went to office only when sir called me. Therefore, I had a very less interaction with the staff members and no one knew me except a few ones. So, I selected Assistant HR Manager at Emporium Mall, Miss Tayyaba, to give my resume and apply for internship.

I customized my resume and cover letter and reached Emporium Mall being well dressed at 10 am. Security guards did not stop me because they knew me very well as I worked there for two months and I entered the office easily.

I went to HR department where I met Miss Tayyaba, greeted her well, told my purpose and asked for their two minutes. She welcomed me warmly and asked me to sit down. Then I started my elevator pitch. As, it was my first experience ever therefore I was very confused, I just not only forgot some sentences but also shuffled them. But she appreciated me which helped me to gather my courage and confidence. I gave my resume and cover letter and on leaving the room I said, “Thank you so much for your precious time and giving me a chance to tell me about myself.” In confusion I forgot to ask for her email which I regret but no problem it is a lesson for me to perform well in next meeting with another HR.

It was a very nice experience. It is just an initiation. I am going to practice this task to make improvement and permanence in myself and I have two years for it before applying for my dream job.
