The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

“At the age of eleven Edhi Sahib took a job in a cloth market at the shop of Haji Abdullah. Haji Sahib paid to Edhi Sahib a salary of five rupees out of which Edhi Sahib hid one rupee and gave the rest to his mother.”

This example reminds me the habit of collecting money in my childhood. Although I don’t have the mind to help the others still I collect for the difficult times or sometime I don’t get money from my father so I used my collection. In 2005 when I was in 5th standard I remember I had a fellow who belongs to a poor family. He doesn’t have some books and the class teacher daily order him to get out of the class. Other teachers sometime allow him to sit with his friends and share books with them.

One of the most expensive books was “Atlas Maps” and its costs about 250 rupees Pakistani. The subject teacher was also very harsh and daily gave punishment to him. One day I thought much and after reaching my home I counted my collection I borrowed some from my elder sister and my asked my father for help. The very next day I bought the book and gave it to him. But he refused to take it because I was the newly admitted student he didn’t know me much and secondly maybe his self-esteem didn’t allow him. Well, I spoke many lies that I have an extra book etc and finally, he took the book and became my best friend.

He was very much happy and I was too. The truth is when I first thought of helping him I was much worried as it was collection my whole year I have many plans, many things to buy. But after seeing his face, his smile and his thankful eyes I forgot everything. At that time I realised that real happiness comes actually when others are happy from you when you help someone. Living for the others is humanity and it is the big difference between human beings and animals. Small things can bring a big change, we should develop the habit of helping others and live like people’s person.
