Hailing from the warm island of Haiti, Joelle Wendy Fontaine is the mastermind behind I Am Kréyol, a distinguished fashion house with humble roots. The word “Kréyol”, found within the house name, is an homage to her native tongue and the partnership both Fontaine and her mother have worked tirelessly to see flourish and thrive. With a goal to utilize fashion as a catalyst for change and empowerment, their vision is to empower women to be their best selves.
Additionally, I Am Kréyol contributes to sustainable fashion by working with disenfranchised, Haitian immigrant women in the United States (and eventually in Haiti) on training for production.
Just as her parents and grandparents before her, Fontaine continues to use the work of her hands to create unforgettable designs; a bright and cohesive collection of looks that blends the dimensions of structure with the complexities of print and texture to keep you inspired.
