I enjoyed the discussions in 2, 3 and 4 but I put more value on the lists in 1 and 7.
For the past decade I have been teaching a freshman Linear Algebra course for Engineers. I am not following a particular book but the closest to the cpources philoshopy is the one by Strang. Nevertheless, I am not very satisfied neither my students are I presume.
I have also been discussing this issue with fellow colleques that are teaching the same cource in other Universities. They are more or less in the same saga.
I guess pluralism wins them all and we should take our roads on an individual basis and just adjust on our students reactions. That is if any.
