Bringing the bleeding edge of DAOs to ETHDenver
The Prologue: DAOfest Denver 🎉
The day before ETHDenver, DAOstack is sponsoring the biggest DAOfest since the original at ETHBerlinZwei. An all-day-long festival of talks, demonstrations, presentations, and games about DAOs and decentralized governance, DAOfest Denver will take place on February 13th at Denver’s Sports Castle. RSVP on Kickback here.

We’ve sponsored this DAOfest because we believe in-person community is an important part of any movement, even Web3. DAOfest exists to advance the technology and adoption of decentralized governance globally, through real people interacting in real places, and we’re proud to be a part of that.
DAOfest Denver will feature prominent speakers from across the decentralized governance space, including Amanda Cassatt, the secretary of Ethereum’s new MarketingDAO; Griff Green of the Commons Stack; Donnie Benjamin of Sobol; our own chief architect Matan Field; Nathan Schneider, who’ll help bridge the gap between DAOs and platform cooperatives; and many more.
Last year’s DAOfest Berlin featured a number of amazing talks, and we’re excited for more talks like these in Denver:
- Adam Levi presents collaborative networks
- Michael Zargahm on ‘The Diversity of DAOs’
- Ori Shimony on how to incorporate a DAO
You can follow DAOfest on Twitter and RSVP for DAOfest Denver here. Additionally, Sustain Web3 will take place simultaneously in the same venue: RSVPing to DAOfest will gain attendees access to both conferences!
The Main Event: A Decentralized Hackathon Powered by DAOstack 💻
We are proud to announce that this year’s ETHDenver hackathon will be judged using a DAO powered by DAOstack. Judging will no longer be the domain of the elite few: all ETHDenver participants will have a hand in deciding the winning hacks.
Here’s how it’s going to work:
- Each ETHDenver attendee will be given a starting amount of voting power in the decentralized hackathon DAO at check in.
- Throughout #BUIDL week from February 10–16, attendees can participate in various activities to earn extra voting power through a mobile interface. The more you participate, the more say you have in determining the hackathon winners!
- After all hacks have been submitted, users will vote for their favorite projects, selecting the finalists and then the overall winners.
This hackathon DAO is being organized by dHack, which has run smaller decentralized hackathons at the recent ETHWaterloo and ETHBerlin events. This time, it’s going to be even bigger: the entire main track of the hackathon will run on a DAO, with hundreds or even a thousand judges!
Watch the ETHDenver and dHack Twitter for details as the event draws closer, and RSVP for ETHDenver if you haven’t already.
Hack with the DAOstack team at ETHDenver 👪
We are also encouraging hackers to build on our software at ETHDenver. DAOstack as a technology is more powerful and useable than ever before, and living DAOs like the dxDAO, FestDAO, and NecDAO provide example business models and immediate demand for new features hackers can build.
We can’t announce our bounties yet (that would be cheating!), but if building on DAOstack intrigues you, educational resources are available. Check out some of DAOstack documentation and pop into some of the DAO community chats to learn about their needs:
Learn the software —
Understand the demand for new DAO features —
- Ecosystem issues list: a compiled list of needs from the DAOstack ecosystem.
- FestDAO Telegram: a DAO that produces events all over the world.
- Genesis DAO Telegram: the central DAO of our ecosystem, providing grants to those working towards our goals.
- dxDAO Telegram: a DAO launched by Gnosis to govern DeFi assets such as the DutchX exchange.
- necDAO Telegram: a DAO launched by DeversiFi to serve the Nectar DeFi ecosystem.
- dOrg Discord: a freelance software-building DAO, the first ever BBLLC (blockchain-based limited liability company) registered in Vermont, USA.
DAOstack will have a booth at ETHDenver: come find us if you’re interested in launching a DAO, contributing to the stack, or building anything to do with decentralized governance. A large contingent of DAOstack team members, including developer mentors, will be there on the ground to support, and we’ll be looking forward to meeting all of you in mid February!
