007 - Battling With Balls

Last night documented a historic moment in history. Yesterday evening saw the battle of two titans, in a gripping bout of sporting challenge that ended in a 3–3 deadlock on the squash court.

Now for some a humble draw may not seem like a moment in time to document, especially a moment to write about and share openly with the world but this has been a long time coming.

My Dad an avid squash player since his early teens has had a lifetime to perfect his craft (to a competent amateur level) and despite his older ‘mature’ frame and dodgey knees has been able to consistently defeat me, week on week which has provided nothing but shame and frustration.

We started playing squash regularly on a weekly basis back at the start of 2015 and over time I have seen an improvement in my fitness and my abilies on the court. Since resuming again this new year my focus has been stronger and this has shown in much more dynamic and challenging games for both of us, which have been imensly great fun.

Last night was by far the best match we played, longer games, longer rallies, sweatier shirts! If this is the level we have got to then there is hope that one day, I WILL DEFEAT HIM!
