A method to the madness. The art and science of chaos.

Madness in method, that’s genius. — Frank Herbert
In my opinion, Frank Herbert got it spot on. There’s always a method to the madness and that invariably gives birth to genius, in most cases, at least. Some, if not all, of the “geniuses” of the world approve of this. Even Aristotle once said:
There was never any genius without a tincture of madness.
So why is it that there's always a constant fuss about how messy or disorderly things are? Why the hate on the chaos?
Well its mainly due to the seemingly binary nature of life and everything in it. Most people have the view that life is binary. “Either or”, “zeros and ones”, “true or false”, “success or failure”, “pass or fail”. The list is endless to be honest ;yet this is the view most of us have. Too many of us have been hard-wired to perceive life as a truth table. This is mainly due to our upbringing. When most of us are born, we’re given this perspective of life that says that everything has to follow a specific pattern or order. If it breaks the chain, then its bad or wrong or a fail. Not that orderliness isn’t good or anything, its just that people have become too used to the stereotype, that when something doesn't follow a specific pattern or at least look like it follows a pattern, it is outright bad. This affirms the Gestalt Law of Prägnanz in Psychology. The law states:
People will perceive and interpret ambiguous or complex images as the simplest form(s) possible.

Due to this, when one sees a rather complex and seemingly disorganized organization of objects, the simplest way that the primitive mind is able to perceive it, is as clutter and chaos. It is also the same reason we see the Olympic games’ symbol as a group of organized circles and not many more complex shapes. Our minds just like to take things easy and not bother about the complexities especially when the complexity is made up of discordant elements.
What then are the upsides to el chaos?
In the midst of chaos there’s also opportunity. — Sun Tzu. The Art of War
Well that one is quite straightforward. There’s always an opportunity or another lurking behind the semblance of disorder and chaos. For instance, one may be able to find a hidden treasure in a server room with cables running up and down the place. Wars are only truly won after mayhem strikes somewhere for someone to capitalize on.
Again, chaos can sometimes be the main cause of some great breakthrough. Take abstract painting as a style of painting, for example. With random almost incoherent strokes of a brush can a masterpiece evolve. This style gives a kind of hypnotic yet gripping that tests the boundaries of imagination. The sheer beauty of this style proves that there is beauty behind the madness.
Chaos also helps in the learning process. From the way we learn to talk, walk, read, write and basically do anything else, nothing that we do is structured and proper at the beginning but it teaches us to become perfect at it in the end. Some school(s) of psychology believe that the human mind is a blank state at birth and through our experiences we add more knowledge and information. We keep doing something for so long until it sticks. Consistency is a major key to success and that is why I like Nike slogan: “Just Do It”.
Downside of chaos is that if you didn't make it, you're going have a hard time making any sense of it. “Whoever smelt it, dealt it”, I guess. That’s probably the main reason why so many people are against other peoples chaos. Trying to understand somebody's messy-like behavior is like trying to understand why the English monarchs are monarchs. Who made them monarchs and who gave them the power anyway? We just roll with it because those complex questions are better left unasked. Meanwhile down somewhere in the history of the world, there’s a reason the monarchs are who they are. There’s a reason the Earth is not cuboid. There’s a reason the keys on a computer keyboard are arranged the way they are.
No matter where it happened, how it happened, the person(s) who caused it, why it was caused, or anything else, there is almost always a method to the madness. Lets not make any hasty decisions to “clean” it up because you never now, there might just be beauty behind the madness.
