Don’t know what bpost Future Lab is about? The Future Lab is a brand-new innovation department within bpost. You can read some more about it here.

Your Role as Creative Hacker

Our Creative Hacker at bpost Future Lab is responsible for the development of prototypes in a variety of projects in different domains. This role is all about speed, execution and iterating. You will be part of our continuous design sprints and work from ideation, to concept and prototyping stage.

Responsibilities

  • Create prototypes to put these into customer’s hands
  • Acquire and share knowledge on newest technological trends, and how these can lead to new opportunities.
  • Come up with cutting-edge technological solutions during design sprints.
  • Translate business requirements in awesome technical solutions.
  • Actively learn on a day-to-day basis. Self-development on both hard and soft skills are highly encouraged.

Our Offering (yes we put this before your qualifications)

  • Be at the forefront of creating the future of commerce. Future Lab focuses on the most disruptive innovations.
  • Have full autonomy in what you want to create. Autonomy equals creativity, and creative solutions is what the team is driving every day.
  • Access to plenty of training and focus on self-development, within and across borders.
  • Visit the best conferences across the world, in order to get inspired and bring the learnings into Future Lab.
  • Work with the best ideation partners around. The team needs to learn daily and come up with the best ideas. Partnerships with top-notch ideation companies help us in this.
  • Work in a flexible startup environment, in a great office in the center of Antwerp (we pimped an old Citroën garage as an office). And yeah, we also work from home when possible. But no, we don’t look for the dude that only wants to work remotely.
  • Possibility to work freelance or on payroll.
  • And it goes without saying, great pay. Oh, and a Spotify account 🎵

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Informatics or Master in Computer Science (or related).
  • You have experience working in an innovation team/startup that pivoted trillion times/did crazy side projects.
  • You have plenty of experience in front- and back-end development. To put a number on it: more than 3 years experience in multiple products/projects launched.
  • You have experience with web technologies (Javascript, NodeJS, React, PWAs) and tools such as Git, Docker, Jenkins, etc.
  • You love experimenting with IoT and have plenty ideas to make everything connected. You wish to make more than ‘just an app’ (no offence to the apps!). Experience with VR/AR is a huge plus.
  • You are used to quickly learn new technological paradigms (languages, libraries, patterns,…) and are able to efficiently translate system requirements to concrete system functionality. Learning everyday and staying in front of the newest technological innovations is key in your role.
  • You have experience with prototyping multiple products and have a great love for creating prototypes in a scrappy manner.
  • You have a basic understanding of machine learning and AI, or are willing to go full force on it.

What team will you be working in?

You are getting into a team of creative individuals that create solutions for big problems. The team consists of a strategist, ideator, a concept designer, hacker and project guardian. More information about our team and Future Lab can be found here.
