Hi Brian,

Aurora Serverless is indeed an alternative to consider.

The solution described in this post can be applied when Aurora Serverless isn’t an option due to its limitations (eg, it is only available for Aurora with MySQL version 5.6 compatibility or Aurora with PostgreSQL version 10.7 compatibility, Aurora Serverless DB clusters can only be accessed from within a VPC, …). We also noticed that the warm up delay after a period of non-use during business hours was quite annoying.

Useful to know that the solution above can also be applied for other database engines like Oracle, MariaDB, … .
