Thomas P Seager, PhD, if I may, I think you’re really onto something here.

(Also, if I may, I enjoy the more easily digestible style that you’ve chosen for this post.)

When I talk to colleagues from science departments, it’s common for them to say something like: “Nobody knows why”. Or, perhaps something like: “We leave the ‘why’ to philosophy”! Which, for some of them, falsely, implies that philosophy is mumbo-jumbo.

I think where we might diverge is whether we should categorize Philosophy under the humanities or under empirical sciences…
