The case for Les Miles to Ole Miss

Full disclosure: I am a life long LSU fan. While I think it was time for LSU and Coach Miles to part ways, I think Joe Alleva handled the situation terribly. He’s a great AD finding coaches, but he doesn’t know when or how to fire a head coach. I still hold Les Miles close to my heart as a college football fan and the orchestrator of some of my favorite childhood moments.

Ole Miss is in a bind. With Houston Nut looking over the program, the Rebels were blindsided with the latest scandal with Hugh Freeze. After seemingly becoming Alabama’s kryptonite, Ole Miss went 5–7 and 2–6 in conference. Now with only an interim coach, Ole Miss is once again on the search for a coach that will make them relevant again.

The man for that job is Les Miles. While 63 years old, Les still has plenty of tricks in his hat, and has the moral compass to ride with the Ole Miss program through these rough times. Les Miles has won a national championship and 7 ten win seasons. He has represented the LSU program with class and respect for 12 years. Even when he was fired in September with terrible, poor taste, he never held any animosity towards the program and the hundreds of thousands of LSU fans that supported him during his career at Death Valley.

Although Les Miles is wildly speculated to be one of the next big analysts on ESPN’s Game Day, Mikes had maintained he wants to coach again. He loves the SEC, and I am almost positive he would like to coach in Death Valley on a Saturday night again.

While the grass in Oxford won’t taste as good as Baton Rouge, and I’ll be incredibly jealous when he busts out a brand new trick play. But I want to see him coach again and Ole Miss is the spot for him. Back in the SEC West. Back in College Football.

Thanks for reading! Who do you think is the right man for the Ole Miss job?
