LN does not make sense to me. I admit I came to the web for just that answer. I suppose if I typed “Why is the Lightning Network so Ridiculously Awesome?” in Google’s search bar I would have found I what I was looking for again.
For me, the solution, regardless of its technical viability does not make any sense to me. I’m not aware of many situations where multiple micro transactions take place between two entities (maybe a bar), then finalization.
Practically, most transactions I’ve ever performed P2P (PayPal, w/e) are always sent directly to an individual to settle my debts (1 transaction). With LN, wouldn’t it just complicate what already has to be done — take my transaction and get it confirmed on the public chain. I mean, LN can’t make the money confirmed… it’s not the ledger, it’s just a facilitator.
So what gives, and why does this thing sound fishy to me? Was this thing made for bar-goer’s?
