Why Your Business May Fail With Social Media?
relating to or involving activities in which people spend time talking to each other or doing enjoyable things with each other
— Merriam-Webster Dictionary
THE MEANING OF SOCIAL
Yes, it is truly about talking to each other and doing it together. Yet, spending quite a lot of time on social media, I find that the majority of business users totally miss the point. Brands do not talk, they broadcast. They do not answer to comments or direct messages or do it with a couple of days delay in the worst case.
Engagement requires conversation. If you do not respond to your viewers’ questions, then you present the “I don’t care” attitude. No or late replies mean the brand is not worth bothering. If you do not engage in any Cause which I care about, then I won’t listen to you either. This is of the utmost importance for the Millenial Generation. And no matter how high, the marketing budget cannot change it.
LEARNING BY EXAMPLES
The brands which know how to do it right, are the best to learn form. Take a look at these, which engage in conversations, reply to questions promptly and talk to their fans.
IKEA is one of the rare good examples, and frankly, I have difficulties to find more brands, which do it right. If you find such, please let me know…
