Thanks, Mary…girls rock! In a lifetime of quasi-careers (that have had the sole purpose of supporting my particular array of art addictions) my best bosses have been girls. I’ve trained girls in everything from tractor-trailer truck driving to audio engineering & discovered at an early age that stereotyping was for the birds. “Nice” is also a wonderful & priceless thing.
If you mean the Jolly Boys rendition of “You Can’s Always Get…” what they play is called “mento,” which is a precursor of reggae. They’ve kept it alive by doing numerous cover versions of iconic songs — a brilliant was of highlighting the form. Old farts in new bottles — they just won’t give up!
