Well, I’m pretty sure that listening to other people is key. Some of them may make me uncomfortable — may even speak in the accusative case. The difficulties of respecting the “frivolities” behind the goring of each ox paraded before me are as nothing compared to the difficulties of the status quo & the directions that shit is taking.

Besides, I kind of like it when somebody gives me a poke in the defensiveness, coz political compromise that’s not a two-way street is dishonest.

Even people with disturbing or even disgusting (to me) attitudes can still have good plans & ideas. And gored oxen, like Shylock, bleed real blood. (Where I live, the blood of the poor literally flows in the street.)

As long as political compromises don’t turn into ethical compromises, then including some agendas of people I don’t even like is pretty much how an effective, viable opposition gets formed. Within an opposition, we can go out behind the barn to settle things — but without an opposition that can win — there’s really nothing to settle. Beyond how we treat each other while we go on wading through the shit-storm without doing anything about it.
