It is not clear to me at all why Apple still don’t do that? It feels just next to scam.
They should have option for a trial (up to developer) and obligatory refund in few days for any app (and more if developer chooses so).
None of the keyboards costing over $40 has any excuse not to be backlit, esp on any laptop for any cost. It is simply unusable and we know that such tech cost probably a few bucks overall for manufacturer.
True Linux running would be awesome but it is more than that if you are aiming at local development on iPad. But some sort of docker would be nice or ability to somehow run some services on ports and access it on iOS Safari would be a step to it.
Clever startups, that is a hint for you ;)
I could not be sure what Steve Jobs had in mind but I am not too sure that he originally had a plan for an AppStore. At that time, smart phones were very specific with their applications (Symbian, Blackberry), their development was very complicated and market overall was very weak.
